Our roots..

The inception of a Tree Planting society was ultimately due to an arson attack on Kilvey Hill (Swansea) back in 2019. After witnessing the devastation that this had caused to a vast area of the woodland, Jean-Louis took it upon himself to bring the community together and help to plant just shy of 800 native broadleaf trees with the help of local cub scouts, firefighters, police officers, students and also the leader of Swansea Council.

The next step after the initial planting day was then to create a university-based society in order to continue giving back to the local community and engage as many students and local volunteers as possible.

Since then, the university-based society has planted over 25,000 trees and fundraised over £21,000 for charity, with aims now of being more self sustaimable and collecting, growing and planting our own trees with the local community.
